"This Earth Was Once a Garden Place" - EFY 2001

So instead of doing homework or studying for the next half hour before my review I decided to blog instead. This photo trip is up the canyon. Our assignment this week was shutter speed so there was a lot of experimenting happening. We stopped at Deer Creek Reservoir and then headed up into Midway and then stopped on the side of the Provo River coming back. Kind of cold super, super fun!
I like how the sun is in this picture.

If you look at the side you can see the water drops! If you can't see them you can see the shadow on the wood.

Me standing on the frozen Deer Creek Reservoir.

Icicles.
This is one of the ice sculptures. It's huge. I took this standing on a 6 ft. ice bank.

Shutter speed. Makes water look painted!

This would appear to have been taken close to sunset right? WRONG. It was pretty much black outside. And you can even see some stars. Shutter speed = awesomeness.

No that black shadow is NOT a death eater. It's Diane :)

"The Man Who Can't Be Moved" - The Script

We had cleaning checks this weekend and on the paper we found this.

So then I decided to do this.

And it kind of just progressed from there.
The princesses love Jimmer.

The monkey is pledging his allegiance to Jimmer.

"Love Story Meets Viva la Vida" - Jon Schmidt

Story time!

So my roommates have this home teacher. He shall be left nameless but for this purpose we will give him a name to make things easier. So we'll call this home teacher Boyd. Kristin met Boyd for the first time Sunday morning. After he left she had quite the story to share. Boyd is from the O.C. or Orange County for those who don't know. Boyd is very musically inclined. He was recently made the Music Coordinator of the ward. He has the "power", his words not mine, to decide who gets to participate in musical numbers in sacrament meetings. So while Kristin was being home taught the topic of musical numbers came up and he made some comments about whether or not Kristin was "proficient" or not, again his words not mine, to play in sacrament meeting. Don't worry Kristin is very proficient.

This has led to many laughs and joking in the apartment along with some other interactions that Breanna has had with him. Which leads us to our story.

Once upon a time there were three princesses taking a break from their treacherous homework and watching a season finale of a cake show. While the princesses were taking their break a loud noise came from the door. Princess Breanna looked through the tiny whole on the door and then immediately opened the door and fled from the room. Princess Lauren and Princess Diane were left sitting on the couch looking at this poor, confused boy standing at the door.

The man bowed to the princesses, begged for their pardon, and asked if Princess Emily was home. The two princesses said "Ummmm" on the exact same pitch and held it for the exact same time before cutting off. The boy was impressed and complimented the two princesses on their amazing musical abilities and asked them to do it again. They refused but agreed to fetch Princess Emily.

While Princess Diane was away the boy formally introduced himself to Princess Lauren. She welcome him to their abode and proceeded to watch the cake show. While waiting for Princess Diane and Princess Emily to return from the depths of their bedrooms the boy started making noises and adding commentary in strange voices. This worried the princess and she started to wonder when on earth the princesses would return.

Finally after what felt like an eternity Princess Diane and Princess Emily rejoined the throne room and Princess Emily graced the boy with her presence. Princess Diane and Princess Lauren talked about their homework while the boy spoke with Princess Emily and waited until he would leave. The boy prepared to leave and volunteered to take the princesses' trash out and valiantly retrieved the bag.

The boy thanked the princesses for their time and left. The other princesses came running out as soon as the door shut telling us they had been hiding in the shadows waiting for him to leave. The princesses were very grateful for his service and quite enjoyed reenacting the boy's strange behavior. They looked forward until his next visit to the princesses. Until then....they lived happily ever after.

"Reflection" - Mulan

Diane and I went shooting at the temple today around sunset. The skies magically turned pink and purple right as we got home so I didn't get any super cool pictures of that but, I did have a lot of fun with the reflection pool at the temple!

I couldn't decide which one I liked more between these two so you can vote for your favorite.
On a totally unrelated note I just looked to see how any pages my chapter for speech anatomy is that I have to read tonight. 96 pages. I have 1 done. 95 more to go.

"Attack on Murron" - Braveheart Sountrack

This morning I woke up, looked out and window and saw that it had barely snowed last night. I turned my computer on and check facebook and my roommate and written an interesting status about having to slide down snow waist high down our stairs. I looked outside and figured that she was crazy.

So I got ready for class and was heading down the stairs and all of a sudden I saw what she was talking about. One of the girls in the ward was kicking down snow from the stairs. I just stood there in awe wondering how on earth I was going to make it down the stairs for class without killing myself or at least breaking my leg. I started talking with the girl and she said that she had to go to work at 4 o'clock this morning and came out to find a snow wall built on the stairs. She said she had to knock it down to get to work. She said it was a couple of guys in our ward that did it.

So I had to carefully figure out where every step was so if the snow fell my leg wouldn't fall in between the stairs. I was holding on to the railing for dear life. We decided that we're going to get them back. And we are going to get them back good.

Someone posted a picture on facebook. This is before it was all knocked down and covered the stairs in tons of snow.

"Too Cold" - Vanilla Ice

So Diane and I decided to get up and go take sunrise pictures. The only promblem with that is it takes the sun a lot longer to "rise" here in P-Town because of the mountains. Oh and it was cold so that was another problem. It was 12 degrees when we got back which means it was colder when we were out. Burrr too cold. So we didn't actually get any pictures of the sun but we did get the hazy lightness.
I still have a long ways to go before I start getting really amazing pictures but I think for my expertise thus far it's pretty good!

"Feeling Good" - Michael Buble

Wanna meet my new best friend for the semester?

It's mine, it's mine, it's alllll mine! Well for the semester. I added another class, Nature Photography and I'm taking it with Diane. We get to learn everything about photography and we get to take a camping trip to Moab to take pictures! I'm so excited, you really have no idea. I get this gorgeous camera all to myself for the whole semester. I'm going to be so sad when I have to give it back.

So there are all of my classes for the semester. Excuse me while I go take some pictures.

"Giddy On Up" - Laura Bell Bundy

First day of school! First day of school! I am ready to kick butt this semester. I even did homework today!

This are the classes that I have this semester:

Pearl of Great Price with Bro Ogden. Today we went over spellings and pronunciations and then showed us this newspaper article for Christmas that said come meet Satan! Instead of Santa. Then he told us a story that ended with this, "There are no uninteresting things, only uninterested people." I thought that was a good way to start the semester.

Language Disorders with Dr. Fujiki. I had him last semester for Language Development and unfortunately I have the same TAs. Hopefully it will be a better experience. And let's not forget Noxy, short for obnoxious, had to raise his hand and comment something ridiculous. Luckily he didn't say anything about Korea.

Disorders with Articulation and Phonology with Dr. Channell. This is my professor that looks like the mole from Thumbelina, no lie. Other than his lack in ability to work with technology and his offer to help us bail us out to jail I think this class will be pretty good.

I shall finish part 2 tomorrow.

Today is now yesterday and tomorrow is now today.

Hearing Science and Acoustics with Dr. Harris. I think it's going be a pretty interesting class. He showed us some pictures of the inner ear and people with problems and some people were grossed out and I just kept thinking, have they not taken anatomy yet? Because seriously I don't think anything in hearing science could gross me out after taking anatomy.

University Chorale with Matt Nielsen. This is my 4th semester of choir woot! Today was like blast to the past. My choir directory sounds and talks just like my old director Steve. I'm excited that things are going to go well but depressed because this semester our concert was originally going to be in the Provo Tabernacle but now that it is no longer available we shall be singing in the DeJong luckily both are favorites.

Speech Anatomy with Dr. Nissen. This class is pretty much going to be like anatomy but just stuff with speech so I'm super excited because I already know like half of the material. And Dr. Nissen is the most down to earth professor that I have ever had. I love his classes.

Well there it is, the 2011 Winter Semester overview. The future looks bright and cold but shall be over in 16 weeks. Bring on summer. Over and out.
